I'm gonna get the Lenovo Y50 from Newegg. They only have two different models, one with an i5 4200h and one with an i7 4700hq. Other than that they are completely identical, namely, they both have a gtx 860m 2gb card. I wanna be able to play games like gta IV and V, Bioshock, stuff like that. So the question is, which one is worth it?

The i5 will have no trouble playing games. You don't need an i7, don't waste your money :)

Well, thank you everybody for your help. Just placed an order on the i5 model a couple of minutes ago. I'm now down $999, but that's much better than losing an extra $150 on top of that for something that wouldn't help me at all.

Hdmi to vga is impossible without an active converter which will not be cheap. Are there any other video out ports?

Unfortunately, no. Just HDMI and usb. I did find an active converter on amazon that people seem to like. Here it is.

Edit: I might just end up going to Goodwill and trying to find a hidden gem of a monitor. Pretty unlikely, but you never know. I got a brand new iHome from goodwill for 20 bucks, and the retail value for that model is 120 bucks.

Odds are I'll find one eventually.

That's actually not too bad looking.

Yea, worth a shot. I've got an old 16" that works great for monitoring software on the side while doing other things like gaming on the main 32". The funny thing is that the old crt has a higher refresh rate (85hz) than the main lcd (60hz).
