Control VR + Oculus or Rig Upgrade? [POLL]

DrunkAssassin

Hey, guys so I just watched the E3 coverage and saw Slick's impressions of the control VR and I really like the concept especially when combined with an oculus rift and was thinking of backing it on kick starter and buying an oculus. However this means I wouldn't be able to upgrade my rig with an i7 4790k and custom watercool it. So now i ask for you advice on which choice I should pick, as I am really torn between the two and I am not sure which one to choose.

My Current Rig: CPU: i7 4790k @ 4.8Ghz CPU Cooler: H100i MOBO: Gigabyte Z97X SOC GPU: XFX Radeon HD 7950 Tahiti pro (Died 6/07/2014 RIP) & PowerColour HD7950  GPU Cooler: NZXT G10 W/ Corsair H55 HDD&SSD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB + Corsair GS 128GB + Samsung 840 EVO 250GB PSU: Corsair RM 750 Case: Fractal Design Arc Midi R2.

Well you'll probably need a rig upgrade to run the Oculus :P There's a lot pixels and a very high frame rate that need to be met for a good VR experience.

If anything I'd say you need to spend the most money on your GPU rather than CPU.

Laptop Lenovo Thinkpad X220 - CPU: i5 2420m - RAM: 8gb - SSD: Samsung 830 - IPS screen Peripherals Monitor: Dell U2713HM - KB: Ducky shine w/PBT (MX Blue) - Mouse: Corsair M60

Audio Beyerdynamic DT990pro headphones - Audioengine D1 DAC/AMP - Swan D1080-IV speakers

Well i have CF 7950's so I think I have the GPU horse power to run the oculus, and I am keeping them if I choose to Upgrade

I'd be surprised if you could run next gen games at ~1440p with a consistent framerate over 60fps.

Well the oculus isn't running at 1440p (to my knowledge) so i don't see the issue.

As for as I'm aware the consumer release version is meant to be 1280x1440 per eye, or somewhere around that. Later versions are intended to be even higher.
