Why would I choose gaming mouse over a regular mouse?
What benefits does a gaming mouse have except for more buttons.

And why do people choose optical over laser?

better ergonomics, more buttons and a higher dpi. Although dpi doesn't really matter.

most laser mice have acceleration.

I use a basic 6 button mouse.  I find that too many buttons and I am either pressing the wrong one during combat or accidentally pressing one when not needed.  Maybe it's just me (with big clumsy fingers) but the logitech m510 has been the best so far.
