Nvidia card upgrade possible?

I've got an Asus Essentio cg5290 with a nvidia gtx 220 pre installed. Can it be upgraded? I want to improve it but I want to know what I can put in there too.

I would also appreciate a recommendation for what card to use, but I don't know how to choose one that will work.

If you can afford a GTX 760/R9 280 and a supplimentary PSU. that would be really nice.

 

If you can't, the GTX 750 Ti can do nicely.

check what brand your psu is. ASUS's page says it's a  500 watt but check the brand to be sure. give a budget too
