It will be fine, just get that 2666 ram,

But ram speed doesnt really matter cl9 ram 1600 will perform almost as good

Not sure about the new gen i7 but sandy bridge had a weak memory controller which resulted in struggling to run memory above 1800mhz even when over clocked I got lucky and got my 2333mhz memory to run fine at 2000mhz without any hassle just using the XMP profile and down clocking the ratio. 

 

Ivy bridge on the other hand I hear have much better support for higher memory, take from this what you wish as I am unable to 100% give you a correct answer my advice would be that you don't need faster than 2000mhz as beyond this you see very little performance gains for the money. Save some money and buy something that's just over 2000mhz and then wind it back to 2000mhz doing it this way instead of attempting to over clock your RAM means your nearly guaranteed that its not the RAM which is stopping you running the at that speed.
