A friend of mine has an "old" cpu (amd athlon 64 x2 5200+) and his stock cooler make it run at 30-34°C but the fan is very loud. is there any way to slow it down a little bit? Also is it possible to overclock a cpu like this?

I know Noctua includes low noise adapters with their CPU coolers. Maybe you can find one online.

All you have to do is lower the voltage which is fairly simple to do.

You'll need a fan regulator basically or some sort of transformer.

If it is a 4 pin fan you should be able to manually override it in your BIOS.

Be weary of your temperatures.

If your BIOS requests a password because it is pre-built use this, http://bios-pw.org/

LinusGGtips

Build It. Mod It. Customize It.
