Driver_power_state_failure?

My PC (which I built myself) has the 'driver power state failure' error the last couple of days. Windows 8 shows me this: ':( You're PC ran into a problem, we'll need to restart blablabla' Sometimes it happens frequently (multiple times a day), sometimes only once a week. It's very annoying and I was told I needed to upgrade my BIOS which I believe is pretty outdated. My motherboard is the gigabyte Z87X-UD3H and it's running a i7-4770k. However I can't upgrade it for some reason (maybe I'm doing it wrong, never did it before). I went to this page: http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4481#bios and downloaded the F9 file for Europe (where I live), but when I try to run the efiflash file it says: 'This app can't run on your PC to find a version for your PC, check with the software publisher.' I also tried the American download, where I bought the board, but I got the same error...

Anyone knows what to do? :c

driver power state failure is due to one of your drivers acting weird 

re install your drivers or check if there is any program that is broken on your computer

it happens to me sometimes, i think its just a driver crash
