So my this is my pc :

Amd Threadripper 3960x
Asrock Trx40 creator "Latest Bios 1.86"
Pny Geforce Rtx 5080 Argb Epic x Oc 16 GB
ASUS HYPER M.2 X16 GEN 5
Be Quiet Dark Power Pro 13 1600w
3x samsung 990 pro 2Tb
3x Samsung 990 pro 4Tb
1x Seagate 4Tb
5x Toshiba 18 Tb
Corsair K100 Rgb Keybord
Logitech G903 Lightspeed

Samsung Odyssey Curved G7 32 Inc 240 Hz Monitor

So i been having some rare issues and by rare mening it happens one maybe every 2 weeks depending when it chooses to happens.

My monitor would go black for like 1-2 seconds and then come back like nothing happends, pc dossent crash or show any errors neither in logbook and the pc runs normal though it when it happens.

its been happening though 3 different graphic card at Msi Rtx 4090 slim gaming and a Zotac Gtx 980 Ti i had to use because i Rma'ed the 4090 with that card i happens like 2-3 times a day, but with the Gtx 980 Ti and the Rtx 5080 i happens more rarely some.

Things i tried so far i 7 different display port cables from Supra 4 different generations, 2 different versions of Ugreens 80 Gbs dp cables and now im on Cable matters 80 Gbs dp cable so you can see its all high quality cables and tried the one that came with the monitor and it was happening with all excepth the cable matter since i just installed it 2 days ago and so far no issues but its not been 2-3 weeks yes.

Someone then told me it could be a power delivery issue but my psu is a Be Quiet Dark Power Pro 13 1600w.

The psu is just under 2 years old and on the rtx 4090 and rtx 5080 i was using the 12VHPWR 5.0 connetors on the psu side with the cables that came with the psu, with the gtx 980 Ti i used 3x pci-e cables connectors too 3 pci-e connectors on the psu and then the 3 connectors on the gpu so no daily chain at all.

Can this still be an issue with my psu?

Also i read that with a 5090 you can to use a tool or cable to turn the multirail into a single raid dos that also apply for the 4090 and 5080?

No its just under 2 years old it was bought the 23-07-2024.

No i haven't considered undervoltage yet since i dont think it will solve the issue.

My Rtx 5080 i a 360 Tdp card my Rtx 4090 is a 450 Tdp card my Gtx 980 Ti is a 250 Tdp card and i used to have 2 of those in sli tho it was with a different psu a super flower leadex 2000w platinum psu but had no issues there until 1 of the cards decided to give me a black screen when i came over 80 degrees and then eventually died.

The Be Quiet Dark Power Pro 13 1600w should be enough for my setup dont you think?

Also that turning the multi rail into single rail could that be a thing?

Do note that the monitor also needs power and it has its own power supply either internally or in a brick, I suppose when people say "power delivery issue" they might mean monitor's own power supply is having some troubles. Have you tried other monitors, if you have any at hand?

Edit: reading up on reddit, seems like there are some known issues with it: https://www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/t9eu5s/i_just_fixed_my_g7_odyssey_black_screen_problem/

Well i tried a Dell U2713H that is only 60 Hz and i dont remember it doing it there but i could be wrong.

But you right about the monitor also having a power brick, but one os those from new is costly 😞

Check the comments in thread I linked - people report that the monitor is either overheating or having a defective "Display Stream Compression" thing. Reducing either the bit depth or refresh rate seemingly resolved the issue for some. Bolting a fan onto it is a nuclear option 😄

Oooor if the monitor indeed cannot reliably pull 240hz and only works fine on lower refresh rates you can just RMA the sucker because it's not performing at advertised limits.

My monitor runs at 240 Hz and it comes back 1-2 seconds after it gives me the black screen, to me when touching it dossent seem to be hoot, but still it could be something wrong inside it 🙂

Thanks for the link will try some of those thing's 🙂

Is this also and an issue with the Samsung neo g8 mini led 32 inch 240hz?

Since i have one sitting on a shelve for replacing this if it went bad 🙂

It *could* be a PSU issue, but that would really be surprising.
I super thought it was a cable issue, but you've rules that out.
It could be a dying monitor. Though I notice no one has asked about a DDU. Have you tried that?
My bet would be the monitor though because there's no event in the logs.

Well i haven't ruled it completely out that is was the cable remember it only did it 1 time every 2-3 weeks

I always use DDU when i install a graphic driver

Im more to the dying or a component inside the monitor that is dying 🙂

Exactly nothing it the evenlog at all 🙂

It just did it, so i guess its not the cable but might be the Display Stream Compression not sure, but since other people having issues with the same monitor and same issue i'm assuming it's the same 😞

Tho mine dos the black screen then resumes after 1-2 seconds witch is different from in the post i link it can still be the same thing that makes the error 🙂

Found another issue with the monitor, if i have in the Nvidia control panel sete Bpc to 10 bit wich i had changed to earlier yesterday and i wanted to reset my settings the screen goes black and stay that way un i pull the power cord out of the monitor and plug it back in, if it's set to 8 bpc then it resets like normal.

Is this normal behavior for the Samsung galaxy g7 32 inc 240 Hz 1440p?
