Well I swapped a new card into the computer today an intel b580, the original card I setup up the computer with is an amd Radeon rx 6500xt.

I guess I made the stupid mistake of just switching them

I can boot into my bios but after that it goes to a black screen with a little white line in the top left corner

I’m assuming I need to switch drivers of some sort

Switch back to your old GPU, run a DDU then try again. Report back and let us know what happens.

C'mon give the guy at least some context

Essentially you need to fully remove the old AMD driver with this tool before installing the Intel one. I'd expect that Windows would at least run with a basic display driver if it sees a new GPU instead of giving a black screen but I have no personal experience with AMD-Intel transitions, maybe it's a thing.

It is recommended to run DDU while booted into Safe Mode and in this case you should not even need to plug in the old GPU if you no longer have it. It *should* load the basic display driver in safe mode, at least it won't load the AMD one.

Edit: forgot to mention, you might need to do some trickery to get into Safe Mode if you cannot get it to boot normally. See option 1 from here.

Ummm that's interesting, not the error I'd expect after running DDU. BCD mentioned on the blue screen stands for Boot Configuration Data, essentially a database that tells your PC how to boot to Windows. Reading on this, apparently DDU can sometimes break it in some scenarios and tbh it's the first time I've seen this.

Can you tell the exact order of actions you took that led to the blue screen? This whole thing should not be so problematic, we are missing something.

I’ll be honest I have no clue how I managed it but I was able to put the old gpu back in and boot up completely like nothing happened at all. I was able to get the computer into safe mode and redo the ddu, I swapped the card, but still same problem. Black screen with a tiny white line in the top left
