Now i'm aware that riser cables exist - and that's where my knowledge ends on them. I was wondering if it's possible to use one here, i would plug either wi-fi card (Gigabyte GC-WB1733D-I) or my sound card (Aim sc808) via said riser.

What i would like to know if this is even possible to do? If it is feasible then what should i look for when choosing said riser? also how much is such undertaking gonna cost lol

well considering you are NOT wanting to use one for the gpu as the previous replies wrongly assume (cmon' people, read the damn post!!!!!)

YES a riser cable will work fine for the WiFi or sound card.

I'm using one for my Soundblaster card no problems at all for the same reason, slot was covered by gpu.

luv how folks just fire out a response without actually thinking about the original question first.

Hello

First of all, I'm not sure which category i should put this in so, if this is wrong one - apologies for that.

That out of the way, i found myself in an annoying situation. I bought new GPU on a epic sale, sadly i didn't think about the fact that it's a damn beast - 7.5cm thick and is covering one of my PCIE ports.

You can always use the riser, question is now where do you put the GPU ? To be able to mount it vertically without it chocking on the side panel you need a pretty wide  case, most ATX standard cases are too small for a 3+slots card (that's true for me, my 7900XTX doesn't fit vertically in my relatively big P600S)

It's ok on many dual chamber cases as they're quite wide

it's probably better if you mount your GPU vertically with a proper PCIe cable extension and mount, the price for a "last gen" gpu riser and mounts however can be quite high

well considering you are NOT wanting to use one for the gpu as the previous replies wrongly assume (cmon' people, read the damn post!!!!!)

YES a riser cable will work fine for the WiFi or sound card.

I'm using one for my Soundblaster card no problems at all for the same reason, slot was covered by gpu.
