if wifi is not an issue than this will suffice

well i would say you can wait until the original less quality fans that come for free with the case wear out
(they will be relatively quiet until their bearings give up from 24/7 use)
and then you can replace them with something better .

i second the arctic fans - they are cheap and reliable - i´ve been using them for more than a decade
(but as long as new case fans work i see no reason to replace them -
unless the person in question really wants to optimize their build for maximum silent operation)

Budget (including currency): $800-1,000 CAD

Country: Canada

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Single threaded tasks as well as docker containers. Web Hosting, Game Server hosting, other projects such as Plex, NAS, and so on. Mostly for docker containers and game server hosting.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Dbq8dq

Current list linked above. I have Corsair Vengeance 6000mhz 4x16 totalling 64GB of ram. That's why it isn't included in the part list. Other hard drives, SSDs and so on are not included as those can be purchased later. I'm looking for help in finding a better performance to dollar ratio on the parts for my use cases as well as trying to get a fully modular PSU for future use in case the need for a GPU or other extensions are required.

Mostly I need assistance in getting a better value out of the build and making sure I'm not spending money where I could get more performance out of something that would cost the same or similar. I also vastly prefer AMD as that is what I use and know my way around. Thank you.

Edited to update budget and  make RAM more clear.

your budget says 600-800 CAD yet your own build is basically 1K (985 CAD)
so where is the ceiling of your budget ?

here is a slightly modified build for 950 CAD

7700x is a better processor and if you don´t play games you don´t need a more powerful iGPU featured in 8700G
power supply is overkill for now , but you never know what you may add in the future - and the price difference between good quality gold atx 3.0/3.1
650/750/850w units is minimal (550w units are dying out basically)

i7 8700K , Z370 K6 FATAL1TY , GTX 1080Ti rog strix , NOCTUA NH-D15S ,
2x16gb DDR4 3200MHz/cl16 , FRACTAL R5 window , EVGA G3 750w gold ,
480gb m.2 NVMe WD SN350 + 500gb SAMSUNG EVO 850 ,
creative sound blasterX AE-5 Plus , MSI Optix G241 , WINDOWS 10 PRO

Interesting, pc part picker lists it as $721.78 for me, unless I'm reading it wrong. I also didn't realize the 7700X had an iGPU. So I just glanced over it.

But overall I like the selection you've come up with.

Since I aim for it to be a headless system, the lower iGPU specs are very fine.

I have been debating on spending the extra money on all noctua fans to bring the noise level down. Obv not as good as an AIO, but since I'm not worried about the CPU exceeding the TDP of the peerless, I wasn't going to worry about it untill I had committed fully to a build.

i think that´s because you are using a default settings (US currency) in the top right corner at pcpartpicker
(once you change it to canada the overall price will go up) .

well you don´t need noctua fans for such build -
if you are looking for ways to cut the cost down this is where i would start .
this build will be very quiet regardless .

Thank ya, it was actually becouse the PSU I had selected wasn't available, so the price was way lower than it should've been.

I'm hoping to pull a SSD out of a different system for now.

They are a bit much, but I can't really do what I need without the speed from it.

You are right that I don't need to spend the money on noctua fans. But for something that will most likely be operating 24/7 the extra bit of longevity and quietness could be worthwhile for me. As said though, that is an afterthought. I will keep on optimizing this as much as I can for now.

The 7700 is a good idea, that case is also awsome for the amount of bays it has as well.

Since Wi-Fi isn't as much of a consideration when it's wired, is there a recommended board without it with a good price difference? I usually just end up grabbing the most popular board for the CPU.

Arctic p12 fans and call it good. Cheap, run forever, are high performance and quiet af.

If one fails in a decade you can buy 5 for the price of one regular noctua.
