So me and my friends were at a party/night out at a friends house, when the party finished we went home to a friends house to stay the night we were all super hungry so we made ourselves some cheese on toast. Being a little too tipsy my friend trips and smacks his face off the grill and KO's himself. His mother comes down the stairs and started shouting and bawling at us, of course his mum told my mum I was drinking. I'm in deep shit and my dad just got home from working away this week..

Do you think its alright to drink at a younger age?

What age did you start drinking alcohol?

Any tips for me and my friends?

NOTE: I turned 15 four months ago

Drinking age just got raised to 18 here, and I'm 16.

I think that's unreasonable (mostly because we're used to 16, so most people will do it illegaly anyway)

I think alcohol at any age past 15 is fine, as long as you aren't a complete retard about it which seems what most people around my age seem to find it useful for. I guess it's kind of a retard magnet.

Personally I drink a beer once every couple months at a special occasion (at home only, obviously) at a birthday. I like it, but not to the point of f***ing myself up.

The government doesn't set the age to 21 for shits and giggles. They understand that you still have a growing bod, and don't want you to kill your liver already. My brother began drinking at 16, and he has a royally fucked-up liver because of it. In the end, i cant tell you what to do, but i highly recommend you wait until 19 or 20. Most people in my school start drinking at the age of 12. The legal age here is 16. I DO NOT drink (althiugh i am old enough) as i know of the severe consequences which most people dismiss with the argument that little doesn't do you harm (which it does!).

Say sorry, i will stop, AND actually do stop. If you are having trouble to stop drinking tell your parents and / or your school and ask them for help (eg my school offers free counselling and special treatment to those who want to stop).

I think it's fine, at that age, to drink while being supervised by a responsible adult.

So if the adult gives you a glass of X I think it's fine.

Drinking at a party when you're 15......no.

I don't drink, at least not more than a glass or two on holidays.

Tips?Don't drink, or at least drink in moderation.

While I agree with you for the most part, I think in the U.S. it should be 18. If you are old enough to go to war you are old enough to drink.

I don't drink and will never drink. I had immense self-control problems for my entire childhood until I hit around 17-ish. Massive massive ADHD. So bad to the point that I don't remember a lot of my childhood. I have been working on my self control for about 10 years now, and have finally gotten to the point where I am perfectly fine without any meds at all. Aside from not getting enough sleep I don't do anything that can affect my state of mind.

Anyways @OGFatal I have seen dozens of friends end up awfully because they started drinking at the age. Your body and mind are still developing. That is important to understand. No. It really isn't alright at 15. If you are going to at that age then drink in moderation. You are in Scotland, not Ireland. (I jest)

I think it should be legal at 16, purely for the reason that if it were legal less people would drink for the rebellion factor.

The problem with lowering it to 16 is that it encourages EVEN YOUNGER children to start drinking (that's what happened here in austria).

Well the US is particuliarly fucked up because they teach you how to drive before you get taught how to use the freedom of using alcohol. Kind of a turned around mentality I feel... Lower it to 18 like most of the countries is something I'm heavily for. People that want to drink before the legal limit will anyway, and that's mostly BECAUSE there is a legal limit. It's ''fun'' to cross that and if you get fucked up from it, a lot of teenagers will easily just do it.

The problem with lowering it to 16 is that it encourages EVEN YOUNGER children to start drinking (that's what happened here in austria).

It got heightened here and I hear of no less people ''drinking in'' at home to go to parties later, all 15-16-17 year olds. It really doesn't matter, there is no way you can put a stop to alcohol abuse by heightening a limit and slightly enforcing ruling in a world where teenagers are rebellious and a lot of people are simply stupid.

Should smoking be legal at 16 too? The reason these laws exist is because all drinking and smoking does is harm. Kids rebel and do them because they're fucking morons. At least the select few that do drink and smoke.

Not sure where you live but from what I know, see, and hear, it's not a minority that drinks under the legal age. Kid's rebel because that's what being a teenager does with you. No law will fix that, it might even empower that. And again, driving a car at 16 IS responsible then..?

You're being sarcastic about that right?

I've seen a majority of the guys (people) at my high school drinking and smoking pot, and in passing I've seen a decent amount of kids at local middle schools drinking.

There's no select few about it, the select few are those who choose not to.

You might start giving a fuck when something happens or is worse because of the alcohol. As said, it's probably not abd to have a couple of beers every weekend, whatever. Just don't overdo it and fuck yourself up, because guess what, you're prone to doing that at your (and my, but I'm staying quite far away from it) age.
