With a top rear case fan to exhaust air out, I always installed a CPU air cooler fan in the same direction to also exhaust air out. Now, with a new CPU air cooler with two fans, I was advised to install the two fans, so they blow air to the opposite direction of the RAM. Essentially, this would mean to change the direction of the top rear case fan as well to blow air in. I currently don't have a temperature problem. What do you think?

So wait, you have your CPU cooler fans blowing air towards the front of the case, and a top intake fan?

Do you also have intake fans in the front?

In most scenarios with a regular mesh-front case and a tower air cooler here is no compelling reason to deviate from the common front-to-back airflow pattern - that is to say, intake fans in the front and exhaust fans in the back. Keep it simple.

Currently it's the opposite, but I am asking about this scenario. No bottom front case fan.

So...with a case with such a restrictive front panel, I can see the argument to maybe doing back-to-front airflow. However, like @Mumintroll suggested, having the CPU exhaust air over the RAM might cause the RAM to overheat.

I think that if your CPU temps are OK with the current front-to-back configuration (despite the restrictive front panel), you should just leave it as-is.

Do you have a side intake fan for the GPU?

I actually also have a case with poor front panel ventilation, but I run it with the side panel off lol and also with a downdraft cooler for the CPU.

The CPU air cooler is blocking the way.

Do you mean it's blocking the possibility to do a side intake fan for the GPU?

If so, the same answer applies - if the temps are OK don't worry about it.

The  CPU air cooler is too high and barely fits, almost touching the case side.

Wouldn't that blow hot air onto the RAM?

Depends how hot the Ram is, hot air can still cool hotter stuff...(like a gpu over an ssd)

(not saying I agree with it)

What do you think?

I say forget the recommendation and keep it as it is.

It makes sense to exhaust that hot air towards the rear and out of the case.

(by the way, who recommended that ?)

(and you could just try it out if you have time to waste, not a big deal)
