Hello LTT Forums members, today I was having some super speed issues with my network, which happens on occasion. So I go to reset my router, come back and there's an additional local area connection called "Network 3" under Local Area Connection 3, even though I only have one ethernet port on my PC and am only connected to my home network. So I disable this network and my speeds instantly rebound up. Any ideas on what this could be? I ran a AVG and MalwareBytes scan and they didn't find anything, so I'm guessing it probably stems from a application.

Go to

Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections

And look for one that has "Network 3" under the name.

Do you have any VM software?

I do have VirtualBox, but it has it's own network which appears as VirtualBox Host Only Network. I'm also running Windows 7 if that helps in any way.

If you've changed any network settings (router LAN IP, subnet, wifi name / encryption type), Windows (because it's shit) will add it as an entirely new network and confuse it's users.

Sounds like Winderps to me. Although I'm not sure why it registered that I have more ethernet ports than I actually do.
