need help on my audio setup

Current setup

1. PC

2. audioengine d1 dac (supports only 2 RCA)

3. one RCA y splitter

4a. klipsch subwoofer r8sw

4b. bitway amp (can only support 2 passive speakers)

       a. passive speakers

(FMOD on its way)

(i have a ground isolator)

Problem:

1) when i plug my head phone into the d1 dac, i get ~145hz humming noise (i have a ground isolator and it does not work)// no humming noise when the splitter is removed.

2) I get bass in my speakers. I want the speakers to only play 100hz and up

Solution One:

1) installed FXsound and ordered harrisonlab FMOD inline 100hz hpf

Problem to solution 1:

1) fmod does not completely eliminate bass

2) using fxsound, i lowered db for frequencies lower than 100hz, but now the bass is too weak

Solution 2:

1) Just buy minidsp 2x4 HD

Problem:

1) I spent too much already. Not too eager to spend $225+ usd

What can I do to

1) eliminate bass in my speakers. I want the speakers to only play 100hz and up

2) plug my head phone into the d1 dac and not getting humming noise from speakers (this is caused by ysplitter)

This will never happen with just a simple splitter.

Don't buy a minidsp.  I'm sure if you look on eBay you'll find a hundred, old school, Yamaha, Cinema DSPs for well under 100 dollars.  I know they're bulky but once set up they can be tucked away and never touched again.  They're cheap cause everyone is swapping them out for soundbars these days

example one in the UK

With all the Trolls, Try Hards, Noobs and Weirdos around here you'd think i'd find SOMEWHERE to fit in!

miniDSP is very expensive if you want to get the dirac license, I put one on my tower speakers and it helped but didn't solve the problem I was having.  I think it's due to room treatment that I get a boost on anything that sounds like a kickdrum.  Like @SquirrelChunk said a cheap AVR on the used market will do everything you are wanting.  I'm unfamiliar with your other purposed solution but it sounds like it isn't easy to accomplish what you want this way.

Audio go Brrrrrr

thanks for the reply bros!

Interesting ideas.

I read up more on this and unfortunately AVR will not do everything I am wanting unless its expensive.

Cheap AVRs do not have true crossovers.

It is basically the same thing as my inline fmod except more expensive and bulkier.

I will test my inline fmod and if I feel that the slope is too gradual, it seems that minidsp is the only way.

Once again, thanks for the response

Have you thought about using actual crossovers?

Used market FTW

yeah i am looking at some used minidsp 2x4 right now but lets see how the inline fmods perform first
