First Time NAS Advice

Hello!

Recently purchased a UGreen NAS + 2x14 TB hard drives to store videos, photos and store a few games. I'm pretty new to figuring out how these sort of things work and the best practices associated. Would love to get pointers if there are any and things I should look into as a first time user.

 

I've also been looking at how to "protect" it, is it worth spending money on a UPS? Or is a simple surge protector (2000J+) enough? I live in Toronto and haven't ever had any severe issues with power.
