Hello, I am thinking of upgrading my PC to a 5080. I wasn't sure if upgrading was worth it or building a new PC altogether is a better choice? I am curious to see if my PC would be bottle necked by the CPU if I get a 5080. Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

Depends on the resolution you're playing at. Or doing what productivity at.  Whatever you're doing with your machine.

The 5070Ti 16GB or 9070XT are the bang for buck top end cards, while the 5080 is if you really just want to spend money or want better 4K.

At 1440p or 1440p UW... the 5800X would pair nicely with a 5070Ti for example.  5080 would be wasting money for not much better performance.

That's what I was originally thinking. I was looking at the 5070ti originally. I play at 1080p and have a 4k monitor for videos and stuff. I honestly just want more FPS for the games I play. I might get a higher refresh monitor in the future to pair with it. My current one is 240FPS and CS2 at 1080P high graphics hits around 260 and sometimes drops to 220fps, (thank God for g-sync).  I was just thinking if I was already going to buy a 5070ti why not spend a little more and sell my 3080. But then again is the price difference between the 5070ti and the 5080 really worth it for my rig?

Oh at 1080p in those games, you want more CPU too.

I mean over 200fps is already a lot, so you're just burning money now.

For your rig?  Or for the game you play?  If CS2 is that big a deal, I'd get a 9800X3D setup with a 9070XT.

It sounds to me you're chasing FPS for no reason other than a brain issue.  Something in your head is saying you need more, when in reality you do not for any real reason.

But if you want it, you want it.  Get more CPU though.

If you do play at 1080p, I would assume that the difference will be there, it just wouldn't be that apparent, since usually if you're playing at 1080p, you would be limited to what the CPU can give out to you. If you're gaming at 4k, however, that's where you would see the difference. But I think you can find some LTT videos talking about 5070ti vs the 5080, or maybe even take a look from LTT Labs for a more accurate comparison.

Here's the Labs link for the 5080: (They don't have the 5070Ti yet, unfortunately)

I think a 5070Ti will give you the same experience for significantly less money - unless you're paying at 4K
