hi so this is the situation i am in, currently deciding which hardware i am going to buy to build my first pc, stuck on deciding on the psu, my main options are the corsair rm850w or the rm1000w, the 850w is about £130 and the 1000 is about £150 but goes up to £170 when the places that stock it at £150 run out :

expected specs:

9800x3d
9070 xt
32gb ram
msi MAG X870 TOMAHAWK or MSI MPG B850 EDGE TI

so the 850w has 3 pcie connectors and the 1000w has 4 connectors, the motherboard has an extra connector for pcie so not sure if to connect that and if i have the 850w one i will only have 2 connectors left for the gpu and some of them need 3 pcie's and i dont want to limit myself to only ones that need 2 connectors, also some of the 9070 xt card say different minimum requirements for example the powercolor red devil i think says 900w so not sure if the 850w psu is suitable, so i would prefer to get the 850w to save some money and its easier to get hold of as the 1000w gets going out of stock at the lowest price but not sure about the minimum requirements and the need for more pcie connectors. hope someone can help me sort this out.thanks.

I see a max consumption of your system around 130+300=430W so you don't need a 1000W power supply.

The mobo pcie power connector is mostly for the birds as far as I know.

currently choosing my parts for my first pc build and had decided on either the corsair rm850x or the corsair rm1000x, would have preferred to go for the 850w to save some money but it only has the 3 pcies and i wanted 4 pcies but the 1000w one had 4 pcies, anyway the 1000w one keeps going out of stock at the cheaper price of £150 so left with the next in stock price of £180 while the 850w is about £130, also some of the 9070 xt card have a minimal requirement of 900w(powercolor red devil). Now i have come across the be quiet! Pure Power 13 M 850 W and its about £110-£120 and has good reviews and has 4 pcies but the 4 pcies come on just 2 cables so they are daisy chained and not sure about how safe as i have heard before to make sure to connect 1 pcie per cable for safety.anybody got any experience or advice about this bequiet psu.

Daisy chain is fine.  They wouldn't include them with their PSU if not.

There's no demonstrable differences in performance or longevity one way or the other.

Why do you want 4 pcie?

Either way, you can't go wrong with any of the picks.

A 900w requirement is conservative, they don't know the CPU you're using so they err on a 14900k over locked to be safe.

As above, you'll be drawing 400-500 watts max.

At some point just buy a damn PSU and build your machine.  All you listed are perfectly fine

Not sure what will convince YOU of this tho. 👍

Are you talking about the CPU power cable?  That's not considered a pcie cable generally.

Send a link to your 9800xt, curious what brand you went with.

hi thanks for the reply, the corsair rm850x comes with 2 EPS 8-pin Connectors for the motherboard and 3 pcies for gpu or other, yeah i made a typing mistake it is the 9070 xt gpu i meant, the 9070 xt will require 2 or 3 pcies depending on brand and model and the msi b850 edge ti has a extra pcie connector on board but i have heard people saying you dont need it and people saying their pc worked better after connecting it.
