Screw Extractor Size?

That's what I'm asking, the sizes in this set range from #1 to #10 which is larger to smaller. The closest EXTRACTOR tip  to 2.4mm is #7 which is 3mm, #8 which is 2.3mm and #9 which is 2mm. Which one should I choose?

Go with the #8 (2.3 mm) it’s the closest match to the 2.4 mm slot and will actually bite into the head.
#7 at 3 mm risks being too wide and just slipping, and #9 at 2 mm may not grab enough surface.
So #8 is your best choice for a clean bite without over-reaming the slot. 👍

@nitron64

Depends on how badly they are stripped and how much material is left to bite into. maybe the 2mm extractor.

worst case looks like your only option is the 1.3 mm extractor considering the core diameter of the screw is 1.25mm. I you can find one smaller than 1.25mm that would be best.

drill would be 2.2mm and 1.5mm respectively.

The screws still have decent material left. It's just that the pump was old and the screws got soft and where countersunk pozidriv screws. But I didn't have a pozidirv bit so used a PH1 bit and that stripped the heads.

Also found a left handed 1mm drill bit. It should pull out the screw without damaging the threads, correct?

So, while doing a build for a client I stripped a few screws from their pump/reservoir combo.

I found what type screws those are but don't know what extractor bit size to use.

Can anyone tell me what bit size do I need for these K22 Screws?

For K22 screws the head is 3.8mm with 2.4mm slot width.
That puts them in the small screw range, so you’ll want an extractor in the 2.5–3mm #1 size.
Anything larger won’t bite, and smaller will just spin.
If you’ve got the kit shown, grab the 2.5mm or 3mm extractor bit, that’s the correct match for K22.

Hey, Thanks for clarifying that man.

I don't have the set currently but wanted to confirm before purchasing as these are not inexpensive where I live.

So I should use #8 extractor bit, correct?

Not #8, that’s way too large for a K22.
You’ll want something in the 2.5–3mm range, which in most extractor kits corresponds to a #1 or sometimes #2 bit.

If you’re buying a set, check the chart on the box: the slot width on K22 is only 2.4mm, so an #8 would just spin.
Go with the small end #1 / 2.5–3mm and you’ll get proper bite.😉

Go with the #8 (2.3 mm) it’s the closest match to the 2.4 mm slot and will actually bite into the head.
#7 at 3 mm risks being too wide and just slipping, and #9 at 2 mm may not grab enough surface.
So #8 is your best choice for a clean bite without over-reaming the slot. 👍

Glad you helped man. Or I was in trouble with the client.😅

Exactly 👍 #8 (2.3 mm) is the sweet spot here.
Glad it helped, you won’t run into trouble with that choice.
Sometimes the middle-ground size gives the cleanest bite without risking damage.
Good luck with the client’s fix!
