I know I've done this before on OPNsense. I believe you can on pfsense as well. However, why not just install 2.7.2 again, and then update from there? 

 

I opened one of my old pfsense config files and it looks pretty generic, similar to my OPNsense files. I know I've used those even on completely different hardware. I just swap the interface names for the correct ones using the notepad, and everything just works.

i have messed around with it abit more with some other drives i had around and i get the same results. tried some new sata cables too. im starting to think the sata controller has gone bad.

 

 

i did record the install process as it fails, seems to be alot of spam of retries before it just gives up
