Hi guys, ill try making it as short as possible.
I was using my computer yesterday when the pc just shut down (had it for ~3 years with no issues)
tried to turn it on after 30 minutes with no luck.
Luckily I have a brand new exact same PSU at home
Tried connecting new cables and new psu (24 pin and cpu) and the PC booted
to rule out a cable faulty, I used the NEW psu with the OLD cables, PC still booted which leads me to believe the PSU stopped working

My question - in general is there something I can do to avoid from the same happening? I assume there isnt a lot to understand what might have happened here.
Regardless I opened a ticket with the manufacturer to send the PSU for a check

No, there isn't anything you can realistically do.  Things will just sometimes fail.   Could be manufacturing issue, some individual part issue, etc etc etc.

RMA the PSU.  It's why there is a warranty for exactly this reason.  To cover you when the PSU just up and dies from nothing you did.

What PSU was it?  If it's EVGA, make sure those fucktards don't send you a refurbished non-tested PSU as a replacement (multiple times over and over).  Ask me how I know.

If it's Super Flower, they may not even ask for the bad one back (even if it's just a grindy sounding fan).  They'll just send you a new one, maybe even more power.  Again, ask me how I know.

Well my PC just died again.

I'll try switching to the cables that came with that brand new PSU (I didnt switch because its the exact same psu model), if it doesn't work then I assume it's a cpu or a mobo issue unfortunately.

So this new PSU... Died?

CPU or motherboard can't do that, as far as I know.

Are you on ungrounded outlet?  Other power issues in the house?

Maybe something in my pc fried the new one I'm not sure.

RGB still turning on but not the PC.

No other power issues in the house and I'm not sure what a ungrounded outlet is
