Took me more than a month or so to get used to the pros. They will tear apart your ears until your ears toughen up. then it gets better after your ears learn how to not feel pain.

Correct on the comfort, not on the sound. The Carcharias and the Kraken Pro both use the exact same internals. The Kraken Pro grips your head like a vice, and uses the hot fake leather, so it blocks outside noise better, but both headsets use the exact same hardware. The Carcharias has slightly better frequency response on it's mic though.

OP, I've been using the Carcharias for several years now. I'm actually on my second pair after I damaged the cable on my first pair by being careless. I bought and tested other headsets after I broke my first pair, but ended up buying a second pair because nothing else I tested came close to the same level of comfort as the Carcharias. I am in front of my computer 10+ hours most days, and the Caracas are so comfortable that I keep them on even when I am not actually using them. It feels weird not having them on at this point.

Kk, does the kraken sit on your ears or is it over ear?

Depends on how big your ears are. Inner cup diameter for both is the same, 50mm, or 1.97 inches. Have someone measure your ears. For me, the ear cup sits on the bottom of my ear lob, but that is not a problem on the Carcharias like it is on the Kracken Pro.

DON'T GET THE CARCHARIAS... I own one and I regret buying them. The headphone sound leaks to the microphone and can be heard when talking through skype, teamspeak, VOIP and other stuffs you do with the mic.

Also, the sound quality isn't good at all. The sound is all muddy especially when there are explosions. The muddy bass just overpowers everything.

Get your hearing checked, sound quality on the Carcharias is stellar.

Compared to headphones from proper audio companies, the Razer offerings are horrible.

Of course you'll get better quality if you spend two to three times the money. But for a sub $60 price point, the sound quality of the Carcharias is excellent. They've been listed for less than $60 at most 3rd party retailers for a long time.

Also, I doubt you have ever even tried the Carcharias. Most people haven't who advise against them have never tried them and only advise against them due to bandwagon Razer hate. Which is true for most Razer products.

stellar? no. My Sennheiser IEM's sound better and they cost less than $60.

Btw, that's my opinion on the headset and my hearing is fine. Also, the sound does leak to the mic when you use it.

There is nothing wrong with the current version. The one and only reason someone gets feedback from a USB headset is because they have some time of power bleed that is affecting their USB ports. They have negative reviews because the people writing those reviews don't know what they are talking about.

Not a headset. Also not intended for gaming. Far too many people will make the bs and false claim that a pair of headphones intended for music are some how good for gaming. The quality is not universal, and just because music sounds good does not mean it will work well for gaming. You posting those monitoring headphones is just further proof that you don't know what you are talking about. Positioning being a key factor that music headphones often fail at.

They fail to properly reproduce the effects of things like footsteps. You lose that sense of positioning, are the footsteps close or far away, are the moving towards me or moving away.

It's the other way around. People think gaming headset have some special ability to do "gaming" sounds when in reality they don't. There is no magical footstep sound signature. Surround is either created purely software or with multiple tiny speakers which causes a massive quality loss without actually giving any better surround experience over stereo headphones. Some of the best surround/positional headphones are not gaming headsets at all. I have the Superlux headphones and they are way better for positional accuracy than any headset from a gaming peripheral company I've ever used.

Also, a $10 Zalman clip-on mic will turn the Superlux headphones into a headset that beats all those gaming peripheral company toys.

This might be a bit off topic, but don't get gaming headsets. Razer is awesome for keyboards and mice, but no ''game-peripheral'' producer makes ACTUAL quality headphones/headsets. Just get them off a reputable brand (Sennheiser, Denon, Shure, etc.) and a separate microphone (either stand, mod-mic or a Zalman ZM-Mic1 (They're like $8 and sound better than any headset I've ever owned.) You're going to get MUCH better value for your money.

I would state a post of disagreement on this, but I begin to see your point when we have to factor in costs. Mind you, the biggest drawback for gaming headsets from peripheral manufacturers these days (Though it has started to improve) is the fact that equivalent or better options are available for less.

While I wouldn't be giving my Dragon War Garand headset A's across the board, it only cost me about 30-32 dollars when converted from Philippine Peso and fits my needs. At this stage, if I wanted an upgrade, I'd probably aim for an audiophile grade set of cans like the HD8/HD7 DJs (I like Bass) or the AKG 712 Pros (I want to know what primo audio is like. And Mad Lust Envy's guide at head-fi ranks them high, even higher than the LCD-2, for game performance). And I'd get a modmic if I needed a mic (Would probably use more for recording than for chat).
