Thanks for the info. The monitor indicates no signal, not just blank if that makes any difference.

Sorry I just rechecked your parts list. The AMD Ryzen 5 5600X does not have onboard graphics. You'll need a dedicated GPU or a different CPU.

After completing a build with the following parts (linked - https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/kC8csp), I get a black screen when trying to boot. I read the readme on not posting and followed the troubleshooting steps. I have attempted to use single ram sticks in all slots and used known working sticks from another system in a similar fashion, 1 slot at a time all to no avail. I have tried swapping the CPU from a working system (also a 5600x) without success. I have disconnected every component and connection at least twice. When pressing the power button, the chassis fan and CPU fan spin correctly and there is an increase in temp from the CPU. My assumption at this point is that I have a faulty motherboard, but would like to know if there is anything else I can do first.

  1. Make sure your BIOS version is compatible with the CPU generation you're trying to run in your motherboard, you can consult the manual or the manufacturer's website about this. (bios version 3611 from last 4 of tag on mobo)
  2. Check if EVERY power cable is connected. Auxiliary power connectors included. (twice reseated all)
  3. Make sure the cable coming from your monitor is attached securely to the graphics card. Also make sure it is securely attached to the monitor itself. (Integrated ports, used multiple cord types known to work from other systems)
  4. Make sure your PSU is powerful enough to power your complete system. (Easily surpasses needs)
  5. Try booting the system with only a monitor but no other peripherals connected.(No effect)
  6. Make sure your monitor works by testing it on a different computer. (Working Monitor from another system, still black)
  7. If you have both a dedicated GPU and an iGPU, try your monitor on both the outputs on the graphics cards as well as on the motherboard. (only iGPU, tried both VGA and HDMI, still black)
  8. When trying the iGPU, if the board has VGA out, try that too instead of just digital out.(No Change)
  9. Make sure all connectors and cables are plugged in securely, reseat if necessary.(repeated twice, no change)
  10. Make sure your RAM, CPU and GPU are plugged in securely, reseat if necessary. (Reseated and replaced both RAM and CPU individually without effect)
  11. Remove riser cables between GPU and motherboard. If this solves the issue, try lowering your PCIe version/speed in the bios to PCIe 3 or lower (doesnt exist in setup)
  12. If the motherboard you're using has debug LEDs, check the error code and consult the motherboard manual to see what it means. (no LEDs, connected headphones, no sound)
  13. If you have a debug speaker connected to the motherboard, note the beep sequence and consult the motherboard manual or this thread to see what it means.
  14. Try clearing your CMOS. (Reset CMOS, no change)
  15. Try booting your computer with only a motherboard, CPU and one stick of RAM attached (if you don't have an iGPU, plug in your GPU as well 😉 ).Still no change
  16. Make sure you try doing the previous step twice, due to possible DDR5 RAM training
  17.
  18. Make sure your GPU works (if you have a dedicated one), try it in another computer.
  19. Make sure your RAM works, try it another computer.
  20. Make sure the RAM is compatible with your CPU and your motherboard.

Thanks kindly

Having a blank screen is normal after a brand new build. It has to go though RAM training. Which can be slow on a AMD based system. Just let it set there awhile. It might take 5-15 minutes to display anything. That's my best time estimate.

Could it be that you are on an earlier BIOS revision?

I have never had a delay on RAM training, but I will attempt more patience.

Yes, there is that warning, however 3611 is much newer than 1004, so this should not be an issue.

It is completely normal to go though this.

This is not something I have ever heard of, is this AI generated that you wrote here or?

Wait, you have a 5600X, no dGPU, and "using the iGPU" ??? There's NO iGPU on a 5600X , bummer !!!!!

this is AM4 not AM5, initial RAM training can be slow on DDR5, not DDR4 RAM

It sure can be slow on DDR4. In my own experience.

Never was in mine, started with 3000 series, then 5000... I was quite surprised by the 45sec+ it took to train memory when I upgraded to AM5 !!

My 3 1200 didn't boot slowly with 2133Mhz RAM
