Hi everyone,

Recently I've been having a problem while playing some games.

First, both my monitors go black. Immediately, mouse and keyboard stop working in the game. If I'm in a discord or zoom call, it still picks up my microphone for a bit and audio works fine.

After a little while of varying duration, that too will completely break, and audio will start playing in a loop without anyone able to hear me. The only way to fix it is rebooting the computer- refreshing the graphics drivers via the keybind doesn't work (it does make the sound though).

This happens in anything from VRising to We Were Here Forever- the former being pretty demanding, but the latter definitely not. For the latter, I would consistently happen during the first jester cutscene if you know what that is- I lowered my settings to Low and it worked fine though. Even then, I later had a few crashes even at low settings. It never happens outside of games, but I think it's happened with every single game I've played recently bar Factorio.

I fresh reinstalled my GPU drivers, no luck.

The weird part is that it doesn't happen under load- I put it through furmark multiple times back to back completely maxing out my GPU and CPU simultaneously since I thought it might've been a power issue or something.

I did once get a notification after rebooting from the nvidia app that it detected a crash, so maybe that would have some information, but I have no idea where those are. That might've also been caused by me hard-powering off the system though.

Any help would be much appreciated.

As with all weird behaviors I'd check temps and overall voltages, fan speeds and cables + connectors to make sure it is not an overlooked but easy to find cause to your issue.

One thing that does not hurt to try is clearing the CMOS memory (and apply your custom settings if you have any like Expo/XMP).

Another easy test is to use another PSU just in case this was a PSU issue.

Next step would be to install a fresh Windows. This is unfortunately the best way to correct broken files and drivers on that OS.

Last step is to test every component of the computer one by one in another known good computer. This is tedious, but can spot hard-to-find issues. If everything tests good, then it is probably a motherboard issue.

Hope that short generic guide can help you.

I left the place with this computer for a while, so sorry for the... delay.

I hard-power-off the computer when this happens, so that's probably the 9:06:33 kernel-power critical.

It also happened just before then, so here is that

Update: I bought two separate cables rather than a splitting one, and now it seems the issue is different. Screens go black, graphics card shits itself, but everything else continues to work- audio, voice chat, game.

Though it continues to happen even after uninstalling the graphics drivers and installing old ones.
