Metro Lagging randomly

Go to solution Solved by Mitico,

I had same problem too,and was when physx was enabled (since i dont have that powerful pc for it) ...

Ok so I have been playing Metro Last Light for a little bit, not long, I have 6 hours logged. It was running perfectly fine-not sure what the frame rate was- but it was running nice and smooth with no stuttering. Now a couple days ago I tried to get onto it and it loads fine the intro cinematic runs smooth, and I load my game. That's when it starts to stutter, every movement is about a second off, even the music is choppy. This has happened once before but I was able to fix it because I just needed to update to the newest graphics driver. So i tried that but I already had the newest driver installed so it couldn't have been that, I then tried to lower the settings and play on normal instead of high graphics, didn't work still stuttered. No matter what graphics change I did it was constantly stuttering but the card was never going above 55 celsius. I do live in Colorado where the past few days it has been un-godly hot outside so maybe that could have something to do with it.

My Rig is:

AMD Athlon x4 760k  Quad-Core (stock cooling unit)

Asrock FM2A78M-ITX+

8Gb G. Skill ripjaws X- Series DDR3-1600

EVGA Geforce GTX 750 Ti 2GB FTW ACX

EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze

Bitfenix Prodigy case

Dell 24" monitor 1080p 60Hz

Windows 8.1

PS: Using the Nvidia Geforce Experience application says that I have optimized metro last light but it still is stuttering with that ~1 second delay

PPS: I am not very knowledgable on computers, this is the first one I built.

If you are using beta drivers they can cause issues like this one, especially if you are running oc (is this the case?). What version are you using?

Usually a reboot fixes the problem, did you try that? Are the stutters just delay, as in it does what you tell it too later, or plain lag, where the framerate drops?

The outside temperature has nothing to do with it, if the card is running cool (55c is more than fine) then heat is not the issue. I am leaning towards a software problem here, usually stutters like this are not caused by the hardware unless it's running too hot, which in this case it isn't.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Thank You! The PhysX was turned on so I turned that off and then did a reboot and it is back to running smooth. Thank you both! I wish i could give you both the solved button but I can't. Both of those worked

Don't worry ^^ we don't get any money for comments marked "solved" anyway xD
