My area doesn't really suffer from brownouts but like I was wondering for the same budget should I go with this UPS https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BYDDJFW?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title or a good quality surge protector. Only thing connected would be gaming pc plus monitor.

surge protectors will protect your hardware, and ups will protect your software and sometimes your hardware. unless your doing something where your need to save it like game development or similar a surge protector will suffice

so if i'm getting a ups/surge to protect my hardware against power outages I should just choose a surge then right. lightning isnt an issue just possible power outages due to there being construction work in the area.

a good surge protector will break the circuit if a voltage surge happens (which could damage hardware).

a UPS will keep your device running for a brief grace period when power goes out.

they're different devices protecting against different things.

Fun fact: most UPS devices are also surge protectors. The commonly trusted APC brand of ups devices typically has most of the available plugs on battery back up and surge protected with a few plugs that are surge protected only.

A ups will do surge as well though. At least any ups worth buying.

Pc isnt anything crazy power draw wise just a 9600x and 6600xt

One thing to consider is the fact that those two together can draw up to 320W under full load. If that no-name UPS is anything like the Cyberpowers I'm used to, going over the rated load limit can cause immediate shutdown.
If all you have is 60 bucks to spend, I'd say go surge protector.

$60 USD should get you the entry level APC ups device that I've had working on a system with NVIDIA RTX A2000 12GB & Intel Core i7-14700k. I have it and my main monitor on the battery backup side so I can save any files locally during power outages and it's worked every time.

How much would a surge protector be in your area and your preference of brand?
