I have a setup where my nvr connect to a router that configured as a wireless repeater, i had to do it because the room that the nvr setup doesnt have an ethernet run

it work fine for the most part, but recently i swap the router placement because i notice the person that install my nvr and repeater setup use ruijie ew1200g pro which has gigabit wan port but my isp provided d-link dir612 only has 100megabit wan, i have greater than 100megabit internet plan so i was bottlenecked by my main router

So i do the logical thing and swap their placement, at first it was working smoothly, but the dlink router that i setup as a wireless repeater didn't work, my nvr cant connect to the internet so i couldnt access it remotely

I can confirm that the port is working because i previously use it to connect to both my tv and computer from it so it must be something else

Is there a setting that i need to change or my router is simply not capable of doing that, or my nvr is confused?

You should reset both network devices to default, set up the wireless network on the RG-EW1200G Pro, then configure the DIR 612 to repeater mode.

The DIR 612 will still be a bottleneck in terms of speed since it's an older wireless-N generation device that only has a single 2.4GHz antenna. The 300Mbps speed [cumulative, bidirectional] can only be achieved on 40MHz [bonded] channel width on a spectrum that is already way too congested in many residential neighbourhoods. However, if you prioritize access/connectivity over speed, maybe it will be sufficient.

Good luck!

Is running a cable not an option at all? Wired network connections are always better than repeaters.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

I did reset both router and setting them up fresh

i know that i will be limited by the speed of the 2.4Ghz backhaul but its fine because i use it for the nvr only, the rest of my internet comes from the main router using 5Ghz, the issue is just connecting the nvr to the second router with internet, it is listed on the repeater list of connected device, but its not showing up on the main router and the status on my nvr still say offline, im using an old hikvision nvr and use hik connect to access it remotely

First i would need at least 15m of cable run from my living room through the stairs and to the room the nvr located, my concrete house has no conduit or ethernet run on the wall, and i would still need to drill holes because there's no way for a cable to fit through the gap of the door

And second, it works before so at least for now i dont want to do or buy something extra if i dont have to
