Hello everyone. I have been fiddling with computers for a little while and now that I have some disposable cash I have been acquiring parts. Slowly over the last few months I have picked up parts. But as I was watching a few builds on the internet they mentioned that out of the 5 PCs they were building at least one would have bad parts.

Now when I get all my parts at the end of the month and go to build it all, what are the chances on a DOA part? I doubt they would take it back after so long. I just want to know the past experiences on the subject. Thank you.

PS Sorry if I made any errors,  English isn't my first language.

You can always RMA it - return a faulty product for the same one that's hopefully functional -, but since I don't know where you live, then I don't know how that would work out - shipping and stuff. CPU and RAM generally won't fail or be DOA unless something stupid happens during shipping or if you bend the pins on the CPU. Motherboards usually won't be DOA unless you short it or something happens during shipping. Cases: self-explanatory, don't kick it. PSUs are sort of iffy, but if you go with a reliable and well-known company, then things will be fine; go with Corsair, EVGA, XFX, Super Flower, Seasonic, SilverStone, and a couple of others you can look up. GPUs are the ones that are more volatile, but in general, you can always RMA them. EVGA, XFX, and plenty other companies will not give you much trouble since they know that GPUs are sometimes unstable for whatever reason. That and giving good customer service is good for them.

| CPU: An abacus | Motherboard: Tin foil | RAM: 2 Popsicle sticks | GPU: Virtual Boy | Case: Cardboard box | Storage: Cardboard | PSU: 3... Er... Make that 2 hamsters | Display(s): Broken glass | Cooling: Brawndo | Keyboard: More cardboard | Mouse: Jerry | Sound: 2 Cans of SpaghettiO's |
