image.png.80883588c3453c5aac6cee844806949f.pngso i have this XFX 6800XT Merc "Black Edition" (not so sure about that but that what HWInfo says so ill run with that), its a second hand card and after i changed the thermal paste and pads with thermal grizzly paste and pads, it just spikes to 91 instantly and still no better temperatures (the paste and pads were very old and cracked). So did i do something wrong?

The temps don't seem -that- bad. Yeah, a little high, but not terrible. Have you tried setting a more aggressive fan curve? You could probably add another 200-300 rpm on those fans before they start to get annoying. Also, you could try undervolting the card, which, when paired with a little power limiting, can drop your temperatures without sacrificing performance. 

 

Lastly - did you make sure you got pads with the same thickness as the stock ones?

Did you screw "crosswise" and little by little ?

Make sure that you put enough thermal paste on!
