budget around 400 total £

looking to upgrade my cpu first- currently running ryzen 5 1600

running rtx 2060 super.

what is a affordable & decent upgrade for both?

cpu wise ive heard that 5600 is good, unsure about gpu

The Ryzen 5600 is a significant upgrade over the Ryzen 1600.

Remember to update the BIOS of your motherboard so it supports the Ryzen 5000!

What motherboard do you have?  Many 1st gen ryzen motherboards actually lose support for Ryzen 1000 series if you update to the lates BIOS, so only do this when you have the new CPU in hand ( This is because of the limited amount of data BIOS can hold ).

A 5600 is around £100 so that leaves 300 for a GPU upgrade.

A 9060 XT is a significant upgrade over your 2060 Super.

i have an MIS X370 SLI PLUS

Thats a very good motherboard!

It will easily handle a Ryzen 5600.

Just update the BIOS once you have the 5600 in hand and you'll be good to go 🙂

If you need help with this, let me know and I can guide you through it when time comes.

Do you know how to enter the BIOS to check what BIOS version you are currently running?

A Ryzen 5 5600 would give you lots of extra power over your current setup. Good choice. For the GPU, either an AMD or Nvidia x60 class card. Maybe the RX 9060/XT

AMD Ryzen™ 5 5600g w/ Radeon Graphics | 16GB DDR4-3200 RAM | 256GB NVME SSD + 2TB HDD | Amazon Basics 2.0 Speakers

Turn the computer off.  Now, when you press the power button on the case to turn on the PC you have to spam the Delete key on your keyboard constantly until you enter the BIOS.

If the Delete key doesn't work, use F2 on your keyboard.

This is what the BIOS will look like and it would say the BIOS version where you see BIOS VER:  Give me the full name and BIOS build date.
