Upgrading network Access Point

I'm looking at my ISP provided router at the moment and looking to upgrade the router for an off the shelf one (ASUS, Ubiquiti, TP Link for example) and I'm looking to find one available to me with WiFi 7 for a little extra future proofing and also because why the f@$k not. The issue I'm having is I'm not able to find any that are available in my region for a reasonable price with the features I want at the moment. So its left me wondering if it is possible to buy a router with WiFi 6/6e and add a WiFi 7 capable Access Point down the line when they are cheaper and more readily available and get the full bennifit of WiFi 7? Or will I have some limitations or even be unable to add WiFi 7 down the line?

I know its probably a really basic queation to many but i guess we all have to start somewhere  TIA

How fast is your Internet connection?

 

You're going to need either a modem/router combo unit that's compatible with your ISP's network, or to continue renting a modem from your ISP. (Their site will have a list of modems they've certified as compatible.)

So I'm between about 800Mb/s and 1Gb/s.

 

So my understanding is that the unit we are getting from the ISP (part of a package upgrade) is just a router and the modem is already provided in the property (though I'm not 100% certain)
