Posted May 29, 2025 hi everyone, i need to know what you guys would do. U got the msi gaming trio 5090 gpu, had the msi ventus 4080. my room is about 115sq ft. when its around 50-54f outside running the 5090 i get a room temp of 77-79. the warmer it is the warmer the room is. i have a ac of 6000 btu but can only use it when its around 80f outside (reasons where i live). i have the 3 year microcenter warranty and i have it connected to the lian li edge platinum 1300w psu and i have the 9800x3d. i even joy this card a lot. the issue i am having is if i should return it due to the cable melting issue (did everything i can on my side so it dont happen including undervolted of 0.925 Mv and 2857 freq.) should i deal with the heat and have the 4080 and the warranty as my back up or return the 5090? any help would be great, thank you all Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/1613408-need-some-input-bad/ Share on other sites
 Posted May 29, 2025 80F room temp is less than what I get during summer (your 27C vs my 35C). What's your actual hardware temps? Those are what matter. Your GPU is good for 80C operating temps, and even above that (though not optimal). ^^^^ That's my post ^^^^ <-- This is me --- That's your scrollbar --> vvvv Who's there? vvvv Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/1613408-need-some-input-bad/#findComment-16737610 Share on other sites
 It's also way higher temps which causes it. Electronics are rated to handle up to 150C temps before melting. So your room temp or hardware core temp aren't factors in bad design on connectors. ^^^^ That's my post ^^^^ <-- This is me --- That's your scrollbar --> vvvv Who's there? vvvv Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/1613408-need-some-input-bad/#findComment-16738185 Share on other sites
