A local second hand electronics shop has a Steelseries 6GV2 in the window for £40

Should I pick this keyboard up?

Depends if you have a mechanical keyboard already. I have both the 6GV2 and a Razer Blackwidow, and i honestly prefer the blackwidow.

For 40 quid that's a good buy, if it's in good condition. Mechanical keys are much more durable than membranes.

Case: Meatbag, humanoid - APU: Human Brain version 1.53 (stock clock) - Storage: 100TB SND (Squishy Neuron Drive) - PSU: a combined 500W of Mitochondrial cells - Optical Drives: 2 Oculi, with corrective lenses.

I'd probably ask them to take it out of the box so I could inspect it

Then you should. Black's aren't tactile though, but that's personal preference.

What about second-hand sites?

I was able to find a used SteelSeries 6gv2 for £17, which was in very good condition.

Yeah, but that's relying on one actually appearing

What's your opinion on the board

When I'm considering to buy something I daily check the most popular site here in Denmark. Could go as far as to check eBay daily but that's simply too much work to save a few quid. I have recently bought a second-hand Blue Yeti in perfect condition with 25% off.

Don't know where you're from but you could try that for a week or two, maybe check for other mechanical keyboards that you've fallen in love with.

What's your opinion on the board

I don't use it on a daily basic as I prefer browns over blacks, the reason I bought it was because it was cheap and therefore a cheap way to find out whether I like blacks or not.

It is a great built keyboard however, so definitely worth the £17.

With many of my items, especially tech items, I like to take good care of them and for that reason I don't bring my beloved Ducky Mini to lan parties. So the 6gv2 makes a good lan party keyboard because of it being so cheap, if it brakes it was only £17.

NAS build log: Gimli, a NAS build by Shaqalac.

Mechanical keyboards: Ducky Mini YotH - Ducky Mini
