Hello everyone, recently i've thought about changing my cpu, i have a i9 10850k on a asus z490-p beacuse i would like to change to ddr5. Should i upgrade now or should i wait, i was thinking of going with either a ryzen 7 7700/7700x or a i5 13600k.Any suggestions?

I have a rx 6800xt, and im only gaming atm and it isnt 'necessary' to upgrade its just that in my country i cloud sell my cpu motherboard cooler and ram for basically the same price i would pay for a ryzen 7700x kit.

I usually use YouTube videos of people testing games with the hardware.

Please don't use bottleneck calculators.

They SUCK!  We hate them here at LTT.  They are often very wrong.

I personally went from a overclocked 9900k@5.2ghz all core to a Ryzen 7700x and saw a decent uplift in gaming performance.

The 1% and 0.1% lows improved dramatically.

The 9900k is basically the same as a 10850k, same +14nm node.

but is it worth rn to do so, also what would be a better choice here, the i5 13600k or a 7700x, or are there other great options?

You currently have a good CPU. If your heart is set to upgrade. I would shop around and find the best sales price. So don't rush into buying anything.

I dont know?  That's not for me to decide.. Thats entire up to you.

I will say that going from my 9900k to a 7700x was absolutely worth it.

thing is ive seen alot of videos that say that 7700x is better, but wouldnt the extra cores of the i5 be a bit better for gaming?

Not at all.  Games don't care too much about cores after 6 cores / 12 threads.

IPC Gain and clockspeeds is king.
