Future - AMD Athlon

So I will be buying a pc with R9 270 and AMD athlon X4 740. Will i have to upgrade the cpu in the future for gaming? The athlon is a very cheap cpu - 78 $ where i live. What i could upgrade to in the future? I wouldn't like to replace the motherboard.

I've seen reports that the future AMD CPU's will be on the FM2+ platform, so it might be a good buy but the reports aren't confirmed.

mm, the Socket for the athlon X4 is FM2, So you could go with and APU, but that being said you could go for a X4 760K, its an upgrade sure, but the FM2 Socket is at an end since the new FM2+ socket is out ( I could be mistaken and they are still making chips for FM2) 

 

either way IMO maybe rethink cause there is not much in this in the of the future, unless your going to replace the mboo and CPU

Depends on how long until you plan on upgrading... should be fine for awhile, but eventually it'll hold you back in AAA games. I'd go with a pentium and a x97 board. Should give you a little more of an upgrade path.

Upgrades on the fm platform is usually a no go because it's their lower end cpu line and the apu line gets refreshed almost every year with usually a new socket.

I'd go with a cheap intel board and a pentium/i3.
