Hi, I got a prebuilt from bestbuy(yes I know) and honestly it just hasnt been running how i want it to run. I average 30 fps on minecraft at max settings, 130 fps on fortnite at max settings, and all around 100-200 on everything else.It also just gets really hot and my fans spin really loudly, These are my pc specs.image.png.da891c6ed4e6bc1be08050d37f470b18.pngimage.png.016cd8e63ebdefa07f00a7fe666f44ab.pngimage.png.d6efbd4f6ef50cc398df6aa09d7de6af.png Can someone please tell me how to fix this and what to do.

Other than Minecraft that seems about right. Ray tracing is very difficult for a graphics card to achieve, so even something as light as Fortnite will struggle to run at very high framerates at maximum settings if you consider the fact that Fortnite’s maximum settings involve ray tracing. Turn off RT for a big jump. For other games 100-200 is about normal if you don’t turn on framegen, framerates are kind of a game of diminishing returns so for non competitive games I would just leave it on maximum settings and enjoy whatever framerate it gives you. Minecraft running that badly is very unusual, check and make sure it’s not capped in the settings or anything. For heat and fan noise that’s just how PC cooling works, unless you’re seeing above 85*C on your GPU or CPU your cooling is doing its job, those components put out a lot of heat so your system is going to have to work pretty hard to keep everything cool. Prebuilts are often made with cheap fans which more often than not will be pretty loud. You can buy quieter replacements for fairly cheap (expect to spend about $15 a fan for reasonably nice ones)

Currently Playing: Doom (2016)

Currently Listening To: Proof, Led Zeppelin

Hi, I’ve tried it at lower settings and gotten roughly the same fps, also i’m just confused because i’ve seen so many people with similar specs get 100x the fps with the same settings.

You may be a victim of Thermal throttling. Tips to avoid:

  1. Room temperature is controlled and well circulated, AC in hot environments, open windows/doors otherwise, rotating room fan can also help
  2. Adequate airflow in and out of the PC, through PC fans
  3. A case with good fan placements and airway paths
  4. A PSU that expels air out from the case, not into the case
  5. The components like CPU heatsink and quality of GPU (heatsink, heatpipes, fans) [wouldn't be surprised if BestBuy skimped on these]
  6. Overkill and atypical but a direct vent outside to expel hot PC air

Ways to understand if your been Thermal throttled:

  1. Run your intense graphical application, ie a Game or benchmark, while it’s running move to next steps
  2. Open NVIDIA control panel and check temperature, it will throttle at 96C
  3. NVIDIA should also should current power profile and clocks
  4. CPU: Open Task manager -> Performance Tab. Compare the listed 'Speed' to your CPU manufacturer specification

Posting a bestbuy model number will help understand your hardware further
