I have had my pre-built PC by cyber power pc’s from Best Buy since like April/may 2020. So like 5 years, I made mistakes trying to upgrade to a GeForce 3070ti and a Ryzen 9 cpu. I am still not super tech friendly. I ended up taking it into a mom and pop shop after I failed my upgrade, and had to bring it back in after it was even slower when I got it back… and finally it was usable… but still not great… I have been for a while now struggling to do simple updates on games for my pc it takes like 2 hours for a 2gb update, but my internet is insanely fast and shows that it should be a lot quicker… It doesn’t make sense, and my pc gets super hot and loud and usually crashes the games I’m playing which is 90% of the time Fortnite with my wife which is super frustrating. I watched a LTT video about mom/pop repairs and such and kinda thought… maybe they messed up my system… maybe I have something in the BIOS throwing things off… I’m not sure, just want to get it fixed… any ideas?

Have you tried reinstalling windows at any point in those last 5 years? (This means reinstalled windows from scratch with a USB stick. I don't mean you've used the reset windows option)

I might be experienced, but I'm human and I do make mistakes. Trust but Verify! I edit my messages after sending them alot, please refresh before posting your reply. Please try to be clear and specific, you'll get a better answer. Please remember to mark solutions once you have the information you need. Expand this signature for common PC building advice, a short bio and a list of my components.

Common build advice:

1) Buy the cheapest (well reviewed) motherboard that has the features you need. Paying more typically only gets you features you won’t use. 2) only get as much RAM as you need, getting more won’t (typically) make your PC faster. 3) While I recommend getting an NVMe drive, you don’t need to splurge for an expensive drive with DRam cache, DRamless drives are fine for gamers. 4) paying for looks is fine, just don’t break the bank. 5) Tower coolers are usually good enough, unless you go top tier Intel or plan on OCing. 6) OCing is a dead meme, you probably shouldn’t bother. 7) "Bottlenecks" rarely matter and "Future-proofing" is a myth. 8) AIOs don't noticeably improve performance past 240mm and don't improve at all past 360mm. 9) RTFM.

what are the specs of the pc? like psu, memory, storage, mobo, cpu and all that. And what exactly are the temps and what sort of performance are you getting and at what settings? and are there any telltale signs of a crash or is it random?

I have, and I lost so many of my games and apps… like I paid for Minecraft and tried to re-install it, and they said I don’t own the application anymore… I wasn’t sure how to prove I did.
