Looking for some ideas what kind of cpu i should go for so i wouldnt need to change my psu or mobo. In the future i am going to upgrade my gpu if i find a good deal possibly on the used market, but for now my main goal is to buy a stronger cpu, because in few games it struggles a little bit but doesnt really cause any big fps drops just some slight performance issues.

Current system:

i3-12100F

Gigabyte B660 DS3H DDR4

Rx 6600

ADATA XPG Spectrix D35 32GB, DDR4, 3200MHz

Chieftec A-90, 650W

If the goal is to keep this motherboard, the absolute most I'd go for is a 12600K or 13400 (they're practically the same CPU, get whichever is cheaper erring on the side of the 12600K), and even then you might end up with some issues depending on the situation where a 12400 would make more sense. It's not a very well built motherboard, and because of that it will struggle to power anything higher end than that.

I'd probably go for a used 12400F since they're usually fairly cheap and the extra 2 cores will help quite a bit in modern games, then for anything higher end save up and do a full platform upgrade instead.
