so in my quest to pick the parts for my next build and i have been reading tons of the posts here and seems there is some conflicting feelings about these cards. first things first is that i had planned on running dual 780ti in my system however i am being told that they aren't really worth the extra money.

However, in reading may posts in this section it doesn't seem as cut and dry as that.

while watching the 780ti video that linus has up the benchmarks all seem to give at least a 10% higher result.

                                      780TI FR / 780                             780ti/ 780

Battlefield           1080p     93        /80      2560x1600    ultra 56/47

Bioshock infinite 1080p   123        /107    2560x1600    ultra 75/61

Tomb raider        1080p   112        /93      2560x1600    ultra 73/59

Farcry 3                                                    2560x1600    ultra 36/30

with this being said my system is going to have a custom water loop. so i have now been looking at the EVGA hydro copper 780ti. these are significantly more expensive so if i do go this route it will most likely be just a single card until a future budget allows for an additional almost $900. so what should i do? dual 780s/ dual 780ti/ single evga hydro copper? also if it is the 780s or the TIs is there a non-reference that i should be looking at that wont be to crazy expensive where 2 of them would be too highly priced( original budget includes $1400 for 2 780ti).

I'm running dual 780ti classifieds with the ek water blocks. My suggestion would be to get the 708ti non hydrocopper and the ek blocks, as they do perform and look better. It cost me a whole bunch of money to set these cards up, but I've never been as happy with any cards I've purchased before. They absolutely scream along. I would say the general rule works for you get the single best card you can, and add another later.

i went for 780 after being a strong supporter of Ti, but some games like you show gain 10fps or so from the Ti but some dont gain much of anything, meaning the extra 100-200$ you pay get you near nothing, instead you can wait a little and buy a second 780 and get even better performance

780ti's are 700$ each whereas 780s are more or less 400$ cards.  10% performance increase is not worth it. No way. If you really miss the extra performance get 3 780s, they would be cheaper and faster. If you plan on gaming @4kUncompressedPorn (why else would you buy dual or even triple 780/ 780ti's?) you should get the 4gb version (6gb aren't really that useful, when games will actually use all that memory chances are the gpus will be too weak to match).

1.4k for graphics cards are pointless either way. 2 780s for 850$ should be great for anything and then he can spend his extra budget in something else.

I should have gone through PCPartPicker. He can get two 780 Classifieds for $529 each on Amazon.

seems like concensus is not to pay the extra for 2 780ti what about the third option for a single 780ti water block for like 850 or what ever the price was
