My setup is quite old. At this point, getting some of the parts new is just not possible, and hasn't been for a while - at least according to PCPartPicker data.

The Scythe Fuma 2 and my exact TeamGroup Vulcan Z DDR4-3000 RAM all haven't been sold in over 2 years. The Phanteks P300A and MSI B550 Gaming Edge WiFi haven't been available since 2023. The 750W Revolution DF has been out of stock since May 2024.

For storage, I could technically buy all of the parts again. The Crucial P1 and WD SN750 are basically the same price on Amazon as when I bought them 5 years ago - probably because they both actually have a DRAM cache. The Samsung 860 EVO is actually more expensive now. However, the TeamGroup CX1 1TB is much cheaper. It would end up being basically the same price 5 years later.

The CPU and monitor are both way cheaper. I bought the 5900X at MSRP through the Newegg Shuffle during the shortage. It is now half the price. And the M27Q is also much cheaper. Although my two side monitors aren't even in PCPartPicker's data - both were refurbs of old units when I got them.

With that said, if all I wanted was equivalent or better performance, I could get it for less today. I paid around $1500 altogether before accounting for the fact that I brought the graphics card from my previous system - it was the Scalpocolyse, buying a new card with a meaningful performance uplift over the 2060 Super would have cost as much as the whole rest of the system.

Here's what I could get today for the same money - it's basically better in every respect, and I could even fit a slightly better GPU within the budget:
