Tnx for help. I will look into it. I hope it will improve my fps

You should see an improvement in FPS but maybe not so much on the max FPS.

The 1% and 0.1% lows should improve dramatically and the average framerate will be much better / smoother.

A 4060 Ti will be the bottleneck in this system but thats alright, with a more modern CPU you will get full performane from the GPU.

The 7800X3D is quite expensive so a Ryzen 7600x/7700x is also a worthy upgrade.

Hey everyone,

I recently bought an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti to get better performance, but I'm still getting low FPS in games like Hell Let Loose, CS2, MSFS 2024, and Squad. I suspect my CPU might be the bottleneck.

My current specs are:

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-10700

  • Motherboard: ASRock H410 HDV

  • Memory: G. Skill Trident Z RGB 32GB

  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti

  • Power Supply: 650W

I'm considering upgrading to a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, but I'm not sure if it will fit within my 700 euro budget.  Should I also upgrade my motherboard to be compatible with the Ryzen CPU? Any other components I should consider upgrading for better gaming performance? Appreciate your advice!

Thanks in advance!

All the games you mentioned are very CPU bound ( CS2 is somewhat easy to run but loves very fast CPU's for higher FPS )

The 10700 is going to be lacking in the games you mention and getting a faster CPU will be highly beneficial.

I play A LOT of Hell Let Loose ( Actually in a match while writing this ) and going from a 9900k to a Ryzen 7700x was a great bump in performance.

A lot less stutter and overall much smoother

I got around 120fps at 1440p with my RTX 4080 with the 7700x. I just swapped it out for a 9800X3D and I gained a massive bump in performance..

I am now rocking 240fps on average with the same settings... HLL is extremely CPU bound and loves 3DV-Cache.  This is the only game I saw such increase however.

image.png.e87f2fcbabdc60e8b804748574903ff7.pngMy HLL game time...

A 7800X3D would be an absolute massive performance increase over the i7-10700 and even a Ryzen 7700x would be much better.

Where are you from so I can look up prices.  You dont need a super high end motherboard for a 7800X3D.

Would a 5700X3D be a good idea with how its decently cheap (for an 8 Core and with v-cache) or no a good idea? (Asking for them as like a recommendation, I have one and love it but I don't have the best advice LOL)

A 5700X3D is a decent upgrade but with a 700 Euro budget we should be able to get a AM5 7800X3D platform going 🙂 Like this.

This is in germany though but almost managed the budget.

This is at 1080p with a 4090 in a 12 game average.  The 1% lows are much better on a 7800X3D vs a 5800X3D.

The 5700X3D / 5800X3D are beasts though!

For esports (any game like CS2) that is going to be CPU bound... they like clock cycles AND 3D V-cache... so definitely consider AM5 (e.g. 7600X) as this around 10% faster in most scenarios... this review is a little dated now, but in CS:GO, the 7600X was >30% faster than a 5800X3D, so likely similar for CS2.

This leaves a 7800X3D/9800X3D as a drop-in upgrade in your near future!

Well under €700!

You did not say what resolution you are playing at?

A RTX4060Ti is a decent 1080P card, but even the 16Gb version has very limited memory bandwidth and it will struggle with 4K.

Most FPS/eSports games, especially things like CS2 will be CPU limited.... 7600X will be the best "budget" step up for around €500... get a good motherboard and DDR5 6000MT/sec CL30 RAM.... then save up for a 9800X3D, that will be the next big step up.

Main rig: Ryzen 7 7800X3D, RTX3080Ti FE, 32Gb Teamgroup Create-T DDR5-6000C30, AC Freezer3 280mm AIO, Asrock Steel Legend X670E, M.2 2Tb Samsung 990 Pro, M.2 1Tb WDSN550, SATA 8Tb WD80EFAX, Corsair HX850, LianLi O11 Air Mini + 3x NF-A14's, MSI MPG 271QRX (27"/1440P/360Hz), Gigabyte M27Q (27"/1440P/170Hz), Asus PA248 (24"/1200P/60Hz), G815 kbd, G Pro X Superlight 2, Audezee Maxwell.
