Will this be fine?

Planning on upgrading from a rx 6600 xt to a 5080 in the july however at the moment I only have a Ryzen 5 5600X , I plan to swap my cpu to a Ryzen 7 9700x in november, will it be fine till then??

 

I would swap both at the same time however my board is am4 and I plan to rebuild my old computer for a family member for Xmas so I need to get gpu ASAP incase of shortages

It will be perfectly fine.

 

Don't worry about buying "too much GPU" now if you plan on upgrading your CPU in the near future. Once you've got that 9700X, your 5080 will be able to stretch its legs.

You will just not get the max usage out of your GPU but you should still see a decent uplift in performance.

Its not dangerous or harmful to any components
