Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for:

Mostly Emulation and retro programing

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Hi all so i have a quick question wondering if anyone knows or has the same configuration before buying.

Im in the market for a new APU as my AMD Ryzen 5 5600G bit the dust a month or so ago and im having to run my old 3400G ATM.

I am thinking of just going the next step up to an Ryzen 7 5700G and google says it is indeed compatible. Im just a bit worried as the APU/CPU is a Ryzen 7 and im not getting any clear answer for my exact board. Any help would be great thanks/

Motherboard: Gigabyte B550M K

The 5700g is compatible with that motherboard.

From the gigabyte website:

Cpu support with am4 cpus is largely defined by cpu generation (3000, 5000 series etc.) and motherboard chipset not the cpu family (ryzen 5, 7 etc.) The 5700g is the same cpu generation as the 5600g so it is a straight swap no bios changes required.

Thanks for the help everyone, also thanks for the CPU family info because i haven't done a full build since the AM2 days. So a bit rusty to say the least 😄

Just wanted to make sure as funds with a family is a bit tight these days.
