Hello!

I may be  making this harder than it needs to be, but I can’t seem to find a psu for a 9800x3d and 7900 xtx. Two builds, finished first one with a 9800x3d and a 4080 super. Used a msi mag a1000g 1000w psu. No issues there. But for the 7900 xtx build, I need a psu with 2 cpu cables and 3 pcie cables for the gpu. Don’t need the 12vhpwr for this one. Just unable to find such a psu. What psu would be recommended for a 9800x3d and a 7900xtx with a msi x670e tomahawk mb build?

thanks

Why do you need a PSU with 2 CPU cables?  Most if not all modern high wattage / quality PSU's will come with 2 EPS CPU power cables but the 9800X3D only needs 1.

Its rare to find a PSU with 3 separate GPU 8pin power cables and you will most likely have to use 1 cable that has 2 connectors and then another cable where you use 1 of the connectors.

You wont need all, just 1 6 pins for even heavily overclocked operation. Doing more is purely overkill.

Thanks guys. I’ll be getting the psu from microcenter or amazon. Rookie assumption for the 2 cpu cables on my part. Used 2 on the first build. Will only use 1 on the second with the 7900 xtx.

Its plenty enough power to use 1 CPU EPS cable 🙂

I am doing that with my overclocked 9800X3D ( 5.5Ghz )   I see around 70-110w CPU power draw during heavy gaming ( HLL / Stalker 2 )

One 8pin EPS power cable can actually handle 2x 9800X3D's.

Here is a screen shot of the 7900 xtx manual. It suggests that 3 separate pcie cables should be used. Am I not understanding correctly?

Correct.    Separate cables are usually recommended but daisy chains are fine as well.   Both supply adequate power without issue.

I use 3x on my 7900xtx with a super flower PSU.
