Hi there!
I am planning to upgrade my GPU in the following weeks and AMD's pricing is far better suited for my budget.

Having witnessed some true horrors of their drivers making PCs unusable for certain tasks, I wanted to ask how your experiences were with AMD drivers so far?
I am not interested in gaming performance but work station application for game development (Unreal Engine 5, blender, Quixxel Mixer).

If you happened to use these or similar programs with an AMD GPU I'd be interested in your experience.

From the benchmarks I recall seeing for the 7000 series (probably a few months ago the last update), AMD loses a lot of performance versus nvidia in Blender (relative to their performance competitiveness in other tasks). I don't know about UE5 or Quixxel.

I occasionally dabble in some UE, Blender, and Unity on my 7800xt and while I personally can barely use the software I confirm that it does indeed work the way that it's supposed to with no crashes or anything. Granted, I don't run any plugins, nor have I opened any massive project files, but in my limited experience you are totally fine running this kind of software. AMD has generally cleaned up their act, their drivers are fully usable. That said I have no frame of reference for how well AMD cards perform to their Nvidia price-point equivalents on this kind of software, for rendering I know that AMD is not great (due to lack of CUDA cores iirc). I would assume that if there are any form of performance gains or losses in just normal game engine use they would be largely unnoticeable/unimportant, things like loading assets and stuff like that don't really use the GPU at all.

Also this is my first post here, yay for you I guess

have my 6950xt for almost 2 years now. 0 issues with drivers.

Really, dont worry about amd drivers. those days are long gone. and the issues that might be there are minute. and amd is usually really ontop of it
