iMessage not delivering

Hey

 

Someone I text with regurlarly iMessage has started being weird. It sometimes takes about 15 minutes or 2 hours to deliver a quick text message with iMessage. The same happens on other apps, it's not delivering as fast as it used to. 70% of the time it does, but 30/35% of the times it takes like 15-120 minutes before it's been delivered. This has only started happening in the last month. What could be causing the issue?

 

We're both on iPhone 13s.

Did either of you download an app that has a VPN (or even a hidden VPN)?

 

I had a t-mobile scam shield app, and it had a hidden VPN. It would not let me sync my Shortcuts with iCloud. I only had the t-mobile app on my phone, but it was interfering with every thing I own that uses Shortcuts (watch, tablet, laptop). Once I deleted the app, every device synchronized in less than 30 seconds. This was escalated pretty high up at Apple to resolve.

Nope. Could it be because her phone takes long to synchronize?

Do they live somewhere with poor WiFi and cell reception? That would clearly explain it.
