Is there something I’m just not understanding about the current eBay market?   Prices have gone crazy.  Was lucky enough to pickup 5080 founders and have 3090 founders that’s selling for the same price on eBay.  Are people still scamming returns or something?

Would prefer to sell local but seems silly to leave a hundred or two on the table.

3090 is still a 4k card  but due to stock issues people who cant get a  5080/5090 have to choose things like 4080super ($1700-2700$) 7900xtx which isnt very good at RT 900+$ people who want upgrades will pay those prices.

supply of new from both nvidia and AMD dried up as they switched to new GPUs.

3090 isnt used for gaming, its used for AI

So basically we’re back to the mining days?  Yay 😞.

Yeah I figured this is a unique window if there wasn’t something funky going on(other than Nvidia/AMD market madness).  Might as well fund my upgrade once I get it installed.

Didn’t expect this when I looked a couple weeks ago planning.

No? there was a gap, but no we are not going back to the mining days, the people who want the 3090 for AI are buying it for the VRAM, the 3080 and 4080 ram miss to often for the training workloads people are trying to do with them. Inferencing doesn't need as much vram at least, so those users don't need the 3090.

Production for old cards ended in october, so november and december and jan they moved onto the new cards, Jan had Lunar New year (nothing gets done for like two weeks). However Nvidia had 200k orders of B200s to fill, which took the majority of their allocation for those months.

Exactly its a window that sucks, And nvidia launched without a stock because of the 200k b200s they needed to push out the door. I do not know why they launched early outside of flooring the price pre pumpkin tax, but that is pure speculation on my part.

Yea AMD delaying to march 6th was not expected from anyone, Retailers already had the cards at CES. At the very least the actual launch should be smoother then past AMD launches. or at least one hopes.

Yeah probably shouldn’t have invoked the hell era.  This should be a blip if the 5070 launches are real.

Wild that HW Unboxed mentioned they could see the pile of them offscreen waiting for drivers(I think they were serious but perhaps was a joke).  AMD keeps screwing themselves over.

It was a half joke.
AMD said none of the leaks were correct because they didnt have drivers, they do, and for some games it has an effect, a launch review does require launch drivers and its hard to say which games it will have effects on.

Given how AMD has done drivers seems a fair bet they’ll get a bit better before launch.

5080 is up and running now.  Need to get some time in tomorrow to make sure it’s stable before I look at listing not old card
