It'll be fine most likely

Motherboards dont really matter for performance and from what I can find about the board you have a PCIE 5.0 slot meaning you can run it in its intended speeds as well

Just make sure your PSU can handle cause it's a power hungry card and depending on the model and manifacturer (as in MSI or asrock etc) it's a pretty BIG card

I edit my posts for so if you saw a typo.... no you didn't, you are just crazy

is asrock a good motherboard?

Asrock is a manifacturer not a board model but yes they have made many solid to even great models like the HDV/M.2 and the Pro rs series (which your motherboard belongs to).

A motherboard doesnt make or break a build as long as it has the ability to deliver enough power to the CPU and that isnt a concern for you with this board as you can run an overclocked 9800x3d with even a decent to good b650 board and have it run smoothly

There is almost no reason to go for x870 imo

Also I dont think a 5090 is a good idea. Ur 4080 can still run games at 4k no problem, save ur money, the only scenario when upgrading is justifiable is when the hardware you have can't run the games and apps you want good enough for you

To add a bit more on this, a 4090 is there as well and even used makes it better value as the 5090 (at MSRP where there is the biggest gap cause retails can vary widely) it comes with a 25% price increase(again at MSRP cause for retail now you cna find them for like 3k to 5k depending on the country, retailer and model) for an, at average, 25 to 35% more performance (depends on the game and or workload)

I dont disagree that the 4080 is still more than sufficient but if the OP wants a 5090 or rather an upgrade so badly the only real advice to save some money is getting a used 4090 as you might find them for 1700 or under (price not set on stone as used sellers can be quite stupid with pricing)

And no, you should only upgrade when the things you wanna run can't run well enough for you

This here is a condition or a caveat if you may that implies that this advice only applies IF OP wants an upgrade regardless of their card still being an amazing/powefull and capable card

if the OP only play games he might not need 4090 lvl of performance

Depends on the game and resolution but as a rule of thumb yes I agree
