Black screen when expo is enabled

Hi, I’m getting a black screen when I enable expo at 6000mhz, the cpu and dram light come on, on the motherboard. The ram runs fine at the default 4800mhz.

 

cpu: Ryzen 8500g

mobo: Asrock B650M-HDV/M.2

ram: cmk64gx5m2b6000z30 (64g ddr5 2x32gb sticks

 

Are there any bios changes I can make that would resolve this?

How long have you waited at a black screen?

Do you have memory context enabled?

Are you running the latest Mobo BIOS?

 

Are the ram sticks on Asrock's QVL list for your board / bios revision?

 

What happens if you try and boot with a single 32GB stick with Expo?

No not the latest bios, not on qvl, not tried with one stick yet. I’ll try that later.

Not being on Asrock's QVL isn't the end of the world but its generally good to make sure they've tested it.

 

Get the latest BIOS for your board from Asrock and try again.

 

If neither of those things work, it might be something to do with CPU memory controller not having enough juice to fire up both sticks. If 1 stick works that might be the case.

 

I'm not an AMD man (at least not yet) so not 100% sure what voltage setting in the BIOS could help with that.

Tried it with one stick with memory context and fast boot disabled. Still not working. Left it running for at least a hour too. Discovered there’s two settings for expo in two different sections of the bios, so I enabled both. I’ve also updated the bios, not to the latest version because that’s a beta, but to the one just before it.
