How much storage do you need?

Do you need fast load times?

Unless used exclusively for media and backups I won't get a HDD, they're slow af

If it's for OS, always SSD
If it's for data, or even most games, and you're really looking for storage capacity, I'd recommend spending an extra 40$ and getting a refurb monstrous HDD like this

Yes, spinning rust is slow, but outside a few games that rely on being installed on SSD, there are remarkably few advantages to SSDs for gaming. I think LTT hasn't done a specific video on it, but they frequently mention that load times are usually not noticeably slow off HDD, and even when you find one that does suffer from it, you can use Steam to shuffle around the installs between HDD and SSD.
